I couldn't ask for better teachers. And the principal does an excellent job. My experience has been a positive one at this school. My daughter has been here since kindergarten. She's now going to 4th grade. Ps Nathan Straus. PS is amazing! They truly want children to learn and will take the time to teach the kids that aren't able to learn as quick as the others. Their staff is courteous, sympathetic and have great technics to teach children. If they had additional funding they would definitely put it to good use.
My eldest graduated from this school and my little one is still there and he loves the teachers and so did my eldest. They take the time to not only teach them education; they also teach them social skills and responsibility.
When asked from other parents about PS I can only think of positive things to say. From the moment you walk in the building you are greeted and willing to help you or steer you in the direction you need. I'm happy my kids went and still go to PS My son now in High School is pleased to pick up his brother at PS as it gives him a chance to see his previous teachers and catch up with the staff.

As a parent I have always been made to feel welcome and important. UNMS is a strong community. My daughter is on the 9th grade at the Henry street School For International Studies in an honor class. I have to admit that I am so very grateful and excited that I was able to get this school for my daughter, because Henry street School For International Studies principal and the entire teachers have very good communication between parents and the students.
What amazes me is the Jupiter grade system go alert me on any Absents and Tardy's that my daughter makes at school. I would like to use this opportunity to give thanks to the following teachers for their thoughtful understanding and the good spirit of tolerance on my daughter in class Ardito, Ms.

The life lessons learned you take forever. It was located right across the street from where I live, so it was great walking to school. The school wasn't perfect but the teachers in the school did make a difference. The only thing that was not good about this school was the substitutes, who didn't care about the students or being there to help.
The classes were crowded I hope it's not like that any more. The teachers who have been there the longest are the ones who cares about the students the most. Academy - PS My daughter has attended this school for 5 years, and I couldn't be happier with my choice in elementary school.
The teachers are amazing, and very dedicated to the students. They do not teach for state tests instead they prepare the students for critical thinking. There are no text books, which I like since they create their own curriculum and are not limited to teach according to one textbook.
In Math and ELA, students are broken out in groups based on their ability across the grades, but have specific focus to help them grow and develop. The classes have two teachers and then one or two assistant teachers. They are available to answer questions. And ClassDojo a facebook for schools is a great tool for teachers, parents, and staff to stay connected. Teachers post videos with new math concepts to help parents understand!!!! You can walk to the seaport area as well. Location is close to east river park for bicycling. You are only Minutes from everything. I highly recommend living in this area. Subways are safe, but there can be some suspect people down there. There is a brand new play ground in the area and see many children in the area.
The area is certainly quieter than other parts of Manhattan. There are impoverished neighborhoods here that are being raped by the business because of gentrification.
This community it no longer for middle ground people. You usually see the same people walking their dogs often around the same times. People may not like that others may not pick up after their dog or leave the green bags on the floor. There are also not many trash cans around to dispose of dog poop. We also have ice cream shops,and restaurants and parks for kids to play in".
